I devour podcasts and tend to obsess and listen to a new find in weeks or months, until I’ve caught up and moved on to the next one.
A lot are entertainment or niche, some I throw away after a couple of listens and there are a few I come back to.
Money Lab by Matt Giovanisci is one I discovered a couple of months ago and I keep coming back. There are some episodes I go back to, either to absorb more information or to just listen to someone with the right mindset, who is doing what I’m trying and has succeeded. Not in a vague guru kind of way as someone who poses in front of a private jet and makes money from courses, but someone who lays it all out there, triumphs and mistakes, what works and doesn’t, and the Host clearly wants you and I to succeed.
Who is the Host of Money Lab?
Matt Giovanisci started out in the pool business but wanted to be his own boss, or just run his own business for a long time.
He took what he knew from the pool business and designing websites and created Swim University. Then at some point he created Home Brewing, a niche hobby site that helps others crafting their homemade beer. This seems to be a project he uses, or used, to show his workings on Money Lab.
But with Money Lab he shows what works for him, what mistakes he’s made and never promises anything like a get-rich quick scheme when promoting his own products. If anything he shows how much hard work and stress it is, but by bringing like-minded people together he learns more and they learn more so everyone makes their online business work.
From what I’ve heard so far with the guests on the podcast, they all really want to help people succeed. Of course everyone is selling something or has a product, that’s why they’re doing what they’re doing but even the course bundle on Money Lab is of great value. Matt states on their that the reason it isn’t thousands of dollars is because he remembers where he was when he started and understands people starting out cannot afford that kind of purchase for something they may not even make back.
Money Lab Media
I found the podcast first but Money Lab can also be found on YouTube and they have an online community within Money Lab Pro.
On YouTube they do website “teardowns” as well as helpful videos on how to start or improve niche websites whether it’s affiliate marketing or direct products, as they use multiple monetization streams across their own websites themselves.
Here is an example of one of their website teardowns…
“Let’s Simplify This Gazebo Website To Earn More Money.”
From the examples I’ve seen they are very constructive as they go through what is working and what isn’t working for the chosen site that the owner has sent in.
There are many good examples of layout, link building and design that come up that may help you build a better site yourself.
Then there’s the tutorial/informational videos that are a great asset to use for beginners and experienced online entrepeneurs alike.
“How To Structure Your Website for SEO.”
What I find helpful with this channel is the use of websites of all levels, some which are not making much money and some making a fair amount, and their own sites are used as examples to the extent that old vs new is shown to show the ongoing improvement in Money Lab’s own business.
Money Lab Themes and Plugins
Throughout the podcasts and videos, they bring up their Lasso Theme and Carbonate Themes and Plugins.
These are built from scratch by Matt Giovanisci and Andrew Fiebert. I’m not sure if Andrew Fiebert was involved with the latter Carbonate theme but the point is these WordPress themes are made by people who started with nothing and built their online assets from the ground up. In doing so, they developed themes for websites built for speed and ease of design to attract and keep that traffic and thus drive sales.
You can check out Lasso here:

This is as far as I’ve reached with Money Lab, I hope you’ve found it useful and can use the help and advice on their website, podcast and YouTube channel to get started, get better or make more money with your online business, whatever level you’re at.
If you have any experience with this or you’ve tried the course, feel free to leave a comment below!
I’ll add to this as and when I dive more into this topic.
Wherever you’re at with your online revenue streams, good luck and keep going!
